NAB 2014: Avid has launched three new modules for file-based ingest, asset search and management, and multiplatform distribution.

The Director, Index and Distribute additions to Avid’s Media Suite “simplify and accelerate production and distribution workflows, helping organisations to reduce costs and achieve maximum efficiency across their entire network,” according to Avid senior vice president of products and technology Chris Gahagan.

Available in May, Media Director aims to speed up file-based workflows.

Scripting tools orchestrate the process of ingesting media into Avid and third-party production and nearline storage, enabling teams to start editing straight away.

Intended for productions that create high volumes of footage, Avid claimed Media Director could eliminate manual prep work, enabling organisations to lower production costs and gain maximum efficiency.

Pegged to ship in June 2014, Media Index extends file search and retrieval across multiple Interplay Production systems, regardless of where the media is stored.

Described by Avid as the “linchpin” of the collaborative process, the company said it is able to find clips and sequences across multiple databases and facilities.

Media Distribute (formerly Interplay Pulse) links production with distribution to web, mobile, and social media outlets by controlling workflow and automating file preparation and transcoding.

Pricing starts at £5,800 for the Media Distribute option for Interplay Production, and £1,400 for the Media Distribute option for iNews.

Avid said the latest version would offer extended connections to more third-party partners for online video platforms, social media, video transcoding, and web content management systems.
