BVE: Avid has released new versions of three of its editing systems at BVE.

The digital video and audio editing software manufacturer says the upgrades will cut editing time and costs.

Media Composer, Symphony and Newscutter now support video input and output interface AJA Io Express and external control surfaces.

Avid Media Access and Avid Nitris DX capabilities have also been expanded and now offer “in-app” phonetic searching for increased editorial collaboration.

There is also native support for Sony HDCAM SR Lite, providing file-based media transfer of the tape-based format over an Ethernet connection to reduce deck usage and increase the workflow flexibility and productivity.

Avid says Media Composer version 5.5, Newscutter version 9.5 and Symphony version 5.5 are a response to customer requests for increased third party hardware support and more open, collaborative workflows.
