BBC to visualise Holst's Planets

The Planets is a visual interpretation of Holst's orchestral epic from BBC Wales Music for BBC2.

422 South has provided stand-alone animation and graphics for two of the seven planet-based segments, Mercury and Neptune. Mercury is a fast-moving and densely layered montage of live-action elements and graphic motifs using After Effects. Neptune was created by manipulating specially shot abstract footage of fluids and natural materials, using After Effects and Editbox. The remaining five sections were filmed in locations including New Mexico and Scandinavia. Directed by Rhodri Huw and produced by Niv Fichmann, The Planets is airing over Christmas.
