The BBC's outside broadcast division will take a presence at the Pie Factory in Salford Quays, the only building currently standing at the Salford MediaCity:UK site.

The scanner, or OB vehicle, will be based at the site, and one of the building's four sound stages will be converted into a multicamera SD/HD TV studio.

Pie Factory chief executive Andy Sumner said: 'The media city at Salford Quays is already attracting business as people are keen to have a presence here sooner rather than later.'

The Pie Factory comprises sound stages and production offices and offers space to companies which specialise in casting, camera hire, lighting, television and commercial production.
