Big Squid has produced content graphics for a new Discovery Channel series shot in high definition called Quest for Columbus. The programme, produced by New York's Engel Brothers Media, pieces together the search for the explorer's Santa Maria boat that was shipwrecked on his first journey to the New World. Big Squid created animated sequences to show the boat hitting a sandbank and breaking up. TGA sequences were transferred into After Effects and matted animations produced by Andrew Glen and Chris Gledhill using 3ds Max. Bristol-based Films @ 59 completed tape transfers. Storyboard and art direction was done by Richard Higgs. The project co-ordinator was Sophie Beresiner. The show will air in the UK later this year.
