Blackmagic Design has acquired US video processing company Teranex Systems

Blackmagic Design chief executive Grant Petty described the deal as “a strategic acquisition”, which he said would extend Blackmagic’s product range for the broadcast, film and high-end post production markets.

Teranex’s products include the VC100 (pictured) broadcast image processor, frame synchroniser and format converter as well as the Mini, a real-time format conversion, noise reduction and frame rate conversion unit.

The company’s 3D products cover camera alignment, 3D dual channel conversions and 3D simulation.

“[Teranex] technology, solutions and market complement our own efforts and its high quality video processing technology enables us to provide our customers with even higher levels of video quality,” said Petty.

He added that the Teranex brand will remain, with the company’s products to be sold by Blackmagic.

Teranex general manager Mike Poirier said: “Blackmagic Design’s global reach, leading edge technologies, widely recognised brand name, strong systems and networking expertise and worldwide customer relationships make it an ideal partner for Teranex.”
