Blackmagic Design, the makers of video cards and converters for the post production and broadcast industries, is to open an office in Manchester.

It will be the company's first UK office, although its cards are already available through a host of UK resellers.

Blackmagic in Manchester will offer sales and support with Simon Westland employed as sales manager.

Westland joins Blackmagic Design from Quantel where he worked with customers in the broadcast and post production markets in Central and Eastern Europe, India, Middle East and Africa.

The Multibridge, DeckLink and Intensity family of products are used by post production facilities and broadcasters around the world. .

DeckLink cards are compatible with both Macs and PCs and work with Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Shake and Photoshop amongst other things.
