Apple TV and NBCUniversal’s Peacock have become the latest streamers to partner up to expand reach.

The tech giant and NBCU have revealed they are rolling out a single subscription in the US from 20 October that provides access to both streamers’ programming from $14.99 per month.

Apple TV (fka Apple TV+) and Peacock will each provide “an extensive sampling of each other’s shows” within their own services, the companies said.

At launch, Peacock subscribers can watch up to three episodes of Apple TV shows Stick, Slow Horses, Silo, The Buccaneers, Foundation, Palm Royale, and Prehistoric Planet for free.

Apple TV app users will be able to watch up to three episodes of Law & Order, Bel-Air, Twisted Metal, Love Island Games, Happy’s Place, The Hunting Party, and Real Housewives of Miami from Peacock.

The combined subscription cost of $14.99 will save 30% compared with separate subs, with a $19.99 option available that includes Peacock Premium Plus.

Matt Strauss, chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, said the move would offer “rich sampling and a smooth sign-up process” that would “broaden the reach of Peacock to even more audiences.”

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice-president of Apple TV, added that deal offered “a simple and seamless experience” for customers.

Streamer partnerships have become a key strategy over the past 12 months as companies look to engage broader audiences. Companies such as Disney+ have partnered with ITVX in the UK., while Netflix and TF1 struck an eye-catching deal earlier this year in France, with numerous implications on rights for IP holders.
