Fox Entertainment Global hires Showtime alum

Former WarnerMedia and Showtime exec Valerie Meraz has been appointed senior vice president of content and acquisitions at Fox Entertainment Global. 

Meraz will lead the content acquisition strategy, including the sourcing, evaluation, and negotiation of content across all formats (scripted, unscripted, formats and film) for global distribution.  

She reports into Prentiss Fraser, who was named FEG president at the start of the year, and joins having also held roles at Turner Networks, Instagram, Twitch, and TikTok. 

FEG has been ramping up its senior ranks recently, hiring Fifth Season alum Liz Tang and former Amazon MGM Studios Distribution exec Peter Grant in the past two months.

 

Dore Media’s Intuition heads to Portugal

Portugal’s TVI has picked up Dori Media Group’s unscripted format Intuition and made a 20-episode order to debut in December.

The gameshow, which is from Dori Media and Smart Face creator Oded Menashe, features games where contestants must answer 10 questions about a random person they are introduced to for the first time.

Intuition was first adapted in Uruguay by Canal 4 in 2017 where it was known locally as Es tu Sentido (aka It’s Your Meaning).

 

Dancing Ledge preps Prisoner 951 shoulder doc

A feature-length BBC2 doc from Dancing Ledge will accompany the same indie’s upcoming BBC1 drama about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

The 1 x 90-minute Prisoner 951: The Hostages’ Story is directed by Erica Gornall and will sit alongside four-part drama Prisoner 951, which tells the story of her six-year ordeal and her husband Richard Ratcliffe’s campaign for her return.

The Fremantle label has exclusive access to the pair who will tell the story in their own words, tracing the years between Nazanin’s capture in 2016 and being reunited with her seven-year-old daughter in 2022. Read more

 

UK’s After Party ups Josh Barnett 

After Party Studios has upped managing director Joshua Barnett to become its chief exec.

Barnett had been in the MD role for seven years, having joined the company from agency YMU.

He will work to expand After Party’s branded and original content slate, which ranges from Channel 4.0’s Find The Cheater to coverage of the charity football match organised by YouTubers The Sidemen. After Party was founded by co-founders Ben Doyle and Callum McGinley.
