Isabelle Degeorges was bestowed gong ahead of International Women’s Day

Series Mania has bestowed Gaumont Television president Isabelle Degeorges with its latest Woman in Series Award. 

The initiative, set up in 2021, awards a remarkable woman from the audiovisual industry, honouring her vision and leadership.

Degeorges is the fifth recipient of the accolade and is recognised for her outstanding contribution to international production. She is known for creating compelling, internationally successful series including hit Netflix crime caper Lupin, starring Omar Sy and Disney+’s high-profile biopic Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, starring Daniel Brühl. 

In the wider industry, as vice-president, fiction, of France’s leading guild for audiovisual producers, the Union Syndicale de la Production Audiovisuelle (USPA), she is central to the advancement of its member producers. USPA provides legal and social support, as well as regular opportunities for best-practice information sharing, networking and events within the French sector. 

A graduate of La Sorbonne in Paris, she worked at Lagardère Group’s Images et Compagnie as a producer before joining Gaumont in 2011. During her 14-year tenure, she worked closely with chief exec Sidonie Dumas and recently departed vice-chief Christophe Riandee to build up Gaumont’s French TV division. She took leadership of that unit in 2013. 

Besides Lupin and Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, the outfit is behind global hits including Netflix’s Narcos and Narcos Mexico.

Her personal credits include hit France Télévisions returner The Art of Crime, Prime Video’s Totems, Signal for Paramount+ and Netflix single documentary Lords of Scam. 

She is currently producing Pax Massilia S2 for Netflix, The Art of Crime S9 and In the Shadow of the Forests for Apple TV+. 

Degeorges follows in the footsteps of former recipients Christina Sulebakk, general manager of Max EMEA, Mo Abudu, chief exec of The EbonyLife Group, Quay Street founder and chief Nicola Shindler and Francesca Orsi, executive vice-president of HBO programming, head of HBO drama series and films.

“This award is a wonderful tribute to twenty-five incredible years dedicated to what I believe is the most beautiful profession in the world: telling stories through series.” 

Laurence Herszberg, founder and general director of Series Mania said: “Isabelle’s remarkable career, which has led her to the presidency of Gaumont Television, has helped to promote French original series and IP internationally. 

“Works such as Lupin and Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, to name only two, testify to the breadth and impact of her work, which is recognized and praised by all.”

Degeorges will receive her award during a presentation on 25 March. She will also participate in an ‘in conversation’ session during the Forum on 26 March.
