Banijay ties with Talpa in Asia

Banijay Asia has struck a two-year deal to represent unscripted formats from Netherlands-based Talpa Studios in India and Thailand.

Talpa Studios’ portfolio includes The Floor, The Quiz with Balls, The Alliance and Most Wanted, among others.

Banijay Asia will take Talpa Studios’ shows to buyers, with an aim to localise, adapt, and produce these IPs for regional audiences.

 

Prime Video extends Nippon TV format

Prime Video has ordered a second season of Nippon TV’s Red Carpet Survival.

The unscripted format - adapted as Red Carpet, Vip al Tappeto - will debut exclusively on Prime Video in 2026.

Red Carpet Survival sees a VIP escorted down a red carpet by three comedic bodyguards, who must survive a series of physical and mental challenges. Each time the celebrity steps off the carpet, one bodyguard is out of the game, with the game forfeited if all three are lost. The show is produced by BluYazmine for Amazon MGM Studios. 

 

Electric lands $20m from Content Partners Capital

LA-based producer and distributor Electric Entertainment has struck a $20m financing deal with Content Partners Capital (CPC), the newly launched private capital division of entertainment investment company Content Partners.

The capital will be used to support growth plans for its studio, with Dean Devlin, chief exec at Electric Entertainment, adding that it would allow the company to “continue our rapid growth at the pace we’ve established over the years.”

Electric is behind shows including Leverage, The Librarians, and The Ark.

Content Partners Capital partner Alphonse Lordo said the deal would “support Electric Entertainment’s high-quality content while continuing to elevate Content Partners Capital as a major dealmaker in Hollywood, empowering independent studios with strategic capital.”

 

History buys from Blue Ant

Blue Ant Rights has sold factual entertainment series Engineering from Above to History Channel in the US.

The 8 x 60-minute show is produced by Blue Ant Studios and follows on from its partnership with History Channel on Mysteries from Above.

Engineering from Above takes viewers on a journey to explore some of the world’s most staggering engineering marvels, using cutting-edge technology and dynamic graphics.

 

Bell, Foxtel strike Cineflix Rights deals 

Vanished History, Commando Missions, and Cape Carnage: Killer Catch have all secured a plethora of international deals at Mipcom for Cineflix Rights.  

The ten-part series Vanished History from Shark Teeth Films for Bell Media, which investigates enigmatic mysteries has sold to Foxtel, RTL, Mediaset, Discovery and Hearst Networks for Benelux and Africa. 

Meanwhile, SBS, Société Radio-Canada, Foxtel and Creo South Korea have all acquired Commando Missions, the four part series which recounts top-secret operations. The latest deals follow sales to Hearst Networks and Czech TV.  

Ten-parter Cape Carnage: Killer Catch which follows the Davey Family as they make a living from one of the most dangerous jobs on earth, has been acquired by National Geographic Channel and Viasat World for Scandinavia and Central and Eastern Europe.  

 

Australia’s Seven orders Talpa quizzer 

Talpa Studios’ quiz Caught in the Middle is debuting with two confirmed commissions, with Dutch broadcaster SBS6 and Australian broadcaster Seven Network ordering local versions.  

The Australian edition is produced by Eureka Productions in partnerships with Talpa Studios with both set to be filmed in Talpa Studios’ international production hub. The Dutch version is set to premiere in January 2026.  

Caught in the Middle is created by John de Mol’s Talpa Studios and sees one quiz duo battle one hundred opponents. The duo stands in the centre of a giant LED arena surrounded by their opponents, and must outsmart the crowd over the course of 15 questions.  

 

TGC GE takes China’s Gold Rush

Phil Gurin’s LA-based TGC Global Entertainment (TGC GE) has acquired international rights to Chinese reality format Gold Rush.

Created and produced by Hunan TV, Gold Rush sees 30 students battling through tasks and challenges designed to turn their bold ideas into real-world breakthroughs. The first 12-part show aired on Hunan TV and Mango TV.

 

Gedeon and NHK team on Azuchi doc

Japan’s NHK and French production company Gedeon Programmes are teaming up again to coproduce documentary The Lost Castle of Azuchi.

The project blends history and science to uncover the mysteries surrounding one of Japan’s most enigmatic architectural wonders.

The companies previously worked on Run Against Time: The Snowman Race in Bhutan, co-produced with Bhutanese public broadcaster BBS, NHK and Gedeon.

The Lost Castle of Azuchi is behind distributed by Terranoa and NHK Enterprises.

 

Norse Key to sell Theatre of War

Finnish film sales outfit Norse Key Studios has picked up world sales rights to Theatre of War, the limited drama series from Arvet.

The company launched pre-sales at MIA last week and here at Mipcom for the show, which is based on novel Skymning 41 (Dusk 41) by Finland-Swedish author Kjell Westö.

The four-part drama is set against the backdrop of World War II and combines Nordic history with themes of war, romance, propaganda, and resilience.

Filming will take place in Tampere, Helsinki and northern Sweden, and the show was commissioned by YLE’s Swedish-language channel.
