12 contestants to compete for a $2m (£1.49m) prize on a life-sized version of the Hasbro board game

Netflix has greenlit a competition series based on classic boardgame Monopoly, with Studio Lambert producing.
Casting has begun on the adaptation of the Hasbro Entertainment-owned IP, with the show tracking 12 contestants as they compete on a life-sized board to be in with the chance of winning $2m (£1.49m).
Each player will enter the game on an equal footing, before rolling a dice to determine their next move as they look to build an empire and avoid being sent - directly - to jail.
Contestants will battle it out to avoid bankruptcy until only one remains, who will take home the cash prize.
The show will debut on Netflix in 2027 and is being exec produced by Hasbro duo Gabriel Marano and Zachary Edwin, and Studio Lambert quintet Nia Yemoh, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Stephen Lambert and Kim Murphy.
Monopoly’s IP was acquired by Netflix last year, when its unscripted output was under Jeff Gaspin. He left the streamer in June, with vice president of nonfiction series and sports overseeing his remit.
Hasbro has leveraged Monopoly’s popularity to develop and launch a variety of online games based on the IP, while it is also working on a movie adaptation of the game that is in the works from Lionsgate and Margot Robbie’s LuckChap.
The toy company has previously partnered with The CW on unscripted adaptations of its IP including Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble. Fox also developed a remake of Mousetrap back in 2021 and Beau Willimon adapted Risk into a drama, but both projects appear to have stalled.
Studio Lambert - now part of Banijay Entertainment following its merger with All3Media - has worked with Netflix on an array of shows such as Squid Game: The Challenge while its US output also includes a reboot of The Circle with Hulu. The show had previously been available on Netflix.
