Dan Brown is to adapt his forthcoming novel The Secret of Secrets into a series for Netflix.

The as-yet-untitled drama follows Brown’s globe-trotting symbologist Robert Langdon as he races against ancient forces and time to rescue a missing scientist, whose manuscript contains secrets that have the power to change humanity’s understanding of the mind forever.

Netflix’s show will fuse futuristic science with mystical lore to deliver the gripping suspense and intrigue that are the mark of a Robert Langdon adventure.

Brown co-created the series with Lost and Jack Ryan creative Carlton Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan) and the pair will exec produce and write it, with Cuse also serving as showrunner. Emma Forman will also exec produce for Gene Arts.

The Secret of Secrets

Brown introduced the character of Langdon to the world in his 2000 novel Angels & Demons, and his creation achieved international recognition with the sequel The Da Vinci Code. Both books were adapted into feature films starring Tom Hanks as Langdon. Casting information on the series has not been disclosed.

Brown has written four further Langdon novels, with The Secret of Secrets set to publish in September. The series has sold 250 million copies worldwide and has ben translated into 56 languages.
