World Congress of Science and Factual Producers 2024 was held in Marrakech

World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP) is to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for 2025, Broadcast International can reveal.

The conference, which moves location yearly, will run from 8-11 December and brings together delegates working in factual and specialist factual.

Speakers for the previous years include broadcasters, distributors and producers as well as science talent and experts.

WCSFP also runs a series of ‘close encounters of the funding kind’ sessions aimed at providing producers information from those they can gain funding from.

This year’s conference is hosted by the Rio Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Rio de Janeiro’s mayoral office at Copacabana Beach.

“Each year, Congress captures the pulse of our industry — and this year, that pulse is accelerating with unprecedented intensity,” said Paul Lewis, WCSFP Conference Director.

“WCSFP 2025 will confront vital questions around AI, digital platforms, and the evolving creator economy, as we navigate how to stay creative and connected in a rapidly shifting world.

“There is no better destination than the vibrant and dynamic Rio de Janeiro to embody this momentum. Its energy, diversity, and spirit of innovation mirror the transformative forces shaping our field.”

The previous two editions have been held in Marrakech, Morrocco and Seattle, USA.
