BBC head of HDTV Seetha Kumar will explore the prospects for HDTV in the UK in a keynote presentation that will form part of the newly launched Broadcast Live and VideoForum Business of Broadcasting conference schedule.

Kumar will examine the options for use of spectrum released by digital switchover and whether there is enough demand for HD on terrestrial TV. She will be joined in the panel session by Ofcom’s Greg Bensberg.

Another highlight of the conference will be a session on adventure TV presented by Ben Fogle, the front man for the BBC’s Extreme Dreams series. He will consider the planning required for this genre of documentary series.

BBC Resources’ head of commercial development, Katy Child, and media solutions team leader, Malcolm Cowan, will give the Post for Production Companies keynote. They will be joined by Evolutions managing director Simon Kanjee and Unit managing director Simon Peto on the panel.

Exhibition director Charlotte Bowskill said: “We’ve brought together an eclectic range of speakers to share their experiences and highlight the most pressing business issues in today’s broadcast market.”
Other speakers at the conference come from broadcasters, production companies, new media and IPTV.

The conference will take place between 30 January and 1 February 2008 at Earls Court as part of the Broadcast Live and VideoForum 2008 technology event.

Broadcast Live and VideoForum merged in July and will host more than 200 stands. The show will feature an estimated 300 free seminars and workshops.
