The technology exhibition Broadcast Live and Video Forum has been re-named as Broadcast Video Expo and been given the official endorsement of the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers (IABM).

The joint venture between Emap Ltd and VCM Events attracted more than 11,000 visitors last year and is the biggest event of its kind in the UK.

Event director Kieron Seth believes that the new name reflects the previous identities of the individual exhibitions but is more succinct and easy to remember.

He said: “Broadcast Video Expo - or BVE for short - reflects what people can expect from the event and what they might see when they visit. It also indicates the cementing of the relationship between the two shows.”

IABM backing for the event will help to ensure that there is a strong link between the organisers and the manufacturing community that makes up a large proportion of the show's exhibitors.

Roger Stanwell, the chief executive of the IABM, said: "Following the success of the 2008 event, we have now concluded an agreement to endorse [the exhibition] that is beneficial to our members and will enable us to liaise with BVE in order to deliver a first class event in the years ahead."

Several IABM members have already signed for 2009 including Avid, EVS, Chyron, Sony and JVC Professional.

Broadcast Video Expo takes place from 17 to 19 February 2009 at Earls Court 2 in London.
