Hostage producer Binocular is prepping thriller Dirty for Amazon Prime Video

Dirty is a UK original series that the streamer has billed as a “fresh and provocative take” on a British police drama.

It follows trainee detective Eva Bennett as she returns to Manchester and joins a new homicide investigation run by her fearsome mother, detective chief inspector Lois Mercer. As the pair navigate their complicated relationship and long-buried truths re-emerge, Eva begins to uncover her mothers’ crimes, forcing a difficult choice between justice and family loyalty.

Dirty is produced in association with Amazon MGM Studios and is exec produced by Foz Allan. The series is created by Matt Charman, Binocular’s founder and chief exec, who also penned Hostage and Treason (both for Netflix) and was nominated for an Oscar for Bridge of Spies.

The series, which is set to commence production in September, will premiere on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Binocular is also behind upcoming Sky drama Prisoner and is shortlisted in the Best Emerging Indie category for this year’s Broadcast Awards.
