Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final was watched by a peak audience of 2.4 million on 5. 

The free-to-air broadcaster shared the rights to the tournament with DAZN, which also showed the fixture free-of-charge. It attracted an average audience of 1.7 million viewers on 5’s linear channel (12.7% share of the available audience) – with a further 459,000 watching live coverage on 5’s streaming service.

5 has revealed that the 23 matches it aired during the competition performed particularly well with 16-34 and ABC1 viewers. Top performing fixtures were Chelsea’s opening match against Los Angeles FC, which was watched by a peak linear audience of 1.6m; Paris Saint-Germain’s semi-final against Real Madrid, watched by a peak linear audience of 1.2m; Real Madrid v Al Hilal which peaked with 1.1m; Flemengo v Bayern Munich, peaking with 1.0m; and Manchester City v Wydad AC which peaked with 934k. 

In total, 5’s linear coverage (on 5 and 5Action) reached over 14 million UK viewers.
