The creators of Sky Sports show Soccer AM are returning with video podcast Soccer Amen, which launches on Saturday (9 August).

Recorded at Tower Bridge Studios and released across all major podcast platforms and YouTube, the show “reimagines what a football podcast can be,” says the Soccer Amen team.

They say it blends “TV-standard production with irreverent football culture, comedy and fan-driven content”.

The podcast will be released twice-weekly, and be hosted by Tim Lovejoy, who’s joined by fellow Soccer AM originals Robbie Knox, Tubes and Sheephead.

The premise of Soccer Amen is to shine a spotlight on the “sound, style, humour and identity that define football off the pitch,” says the team.

The podcast has been developed from the ground up as a watchable format. It’s filmed with a full visual setup and produced by a team of experienced TV creatives.

As well as the full episodes, there will be digital-first sketch content and behind-the-scenes extras designed for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.

“When we first started this project we wanted to make a show on TV, but realised it would not get commissioned” says host Tim Lovejoy. “So we decided to make it ourselves. The landscape’s changed so much in recent years, and we can now broadcast our own show. This is new TV.”

Each episode combines “unfiltered conversation with sketches, challenges, audience interaction, and guest appearances from musicians and pop culture figures with deep roots in the sport. From matchday rituals to retro kits and iconic anthems, the show trades punditry for personality.”

“Soccer Amen is about the parts of football that actually get us talking, the stuff we debate in the pub, send in the group chat, or argue about in the stands. That’s where the heart of the game lives.” adds Lovejoy.
