Goalhanger The Rest Is Football Premier League Greats

The Rest Is Football has launched Premier League Greats: The Moments That Made Them, a series showcasing Premier League archive footage.

The Goalhanger podcast has acquired the rights to the competition’s video archive, and can now show action from every game since its launch in 1992 until the end of last season in May 2025.

Premier League Greats will release every Wednesday until the end of the current campaign. Each episode will feature five matches that defined a Premier League legend’s career, with hosts Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards breaking down why each fixture was so important as well as sharing personal stories and first-hand insight from their own time spent with the players.

For the first time, viewers watching on Spotify Video or YouTube, and across The Rest Is Football social channels, will be able to see the match footage as those moments are discussed on screen. Audio listeners will still receive the full episode as usual. Premier League Greats will release in the same feed as regular Rest Is Football episodes.

The first episode will showcase Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, and future shows will look at the likes of David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

This isn’t the first time The Rest is Football has leaned into video. It covered highlights from the Club World Cup last summer, as well as launching a LaLiga highlights show earlier this season. It will also produce a daily show from the men’s World Cup later this year, which willbe available to watch on Netflix
