Goalhanger podcast with Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards will be a daily show during the tournament

Goalhanger podcast The Rest Is Football will produce a daily show for Netflix during the 2026 World Cup.

Hosts Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer will film episodes from a studio in New York, with game analysis, special guests, interviews and insights into men’s football tournament. There will also be reporters providing coverage from the England camp and various fan zones across the US, Canada and Mexico. 

WME represented Goalhanger in brokering the deal. 

Lineker had been set to present the BBC’s World Cup coverage before he left the organisation earlier this year. The Rest Is Football became no longer available on BBC Sounds at the same time. 

Lineker said: “We can’t wait to bring The Rest Is Football to Netflix for the 2026 World Cup. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the three of us to do what we love — talk football every day — but on a truly global stage. Expect all the usual analysis, honesty and plenty of laughs… just with a few more cameras pointed at us, all from the Big Apple.”

The Rest Is Football has continued to lean into a more visual production recently, including LaLiga highlights shows and daily episodes during the Club World Cup, also with highlights.
