"We are obviously really pleased at the strength of those providers who have got into the second stage shortlist for the procurement of the new technology services contract and the sale of BBC Technology," John Varney, the BBC's chief technology officer, told Broadcast.

Subject to approval from the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Tessa Jowell, the finalist will acquire BBC Technology and win a 10-year technology services contract with the BBC worth up to £2bn.
