Channel 4 plans to outsource its transmission, broadcast engineering and production services to Red Bee Media in a move that will save 10% to 15% of its channel operations budget.
More than 100 members of C4’s broadcast, engineering, transmission and library services teams within the Channel Operations and 124 Facilities departments are expected to move to Red Bee Media’s offices in White City from the second quarter of 2008.
Post-production and on-air graphics staff will be employed by Red Bee but will remain at Horseferry Road.
Red Bee has committed to upgrading its White City facilities to cope with the changes.
