Cinelab London has appointed Simon Marbrook to the newly created position of head of restoration.

Marbrook joins Cinelab from Premier, where he held the same role.

His move signals the end of Premier’s restoration offering.

A spokeswoman for Premier said Marbrook’s departure had prompted a “re-evaluation” of parts of the business.

She said: “We have an existing, mutually beneficial partnership with Cinelab and look forward to continuing this and working with Simon and the Cinelab team for all our clients restoration needs.”

Cinelab London managing director Adrian Bull said remastering and restoration of film and video was now a “key service offering” alongside the company’s film laboratory.

Bull said: “I am very excited for Simon to be joining the team and have no doubt he will complement a very strong and growing group of talented and experienced people.

“Simon is a well-respected member of the archive community and his wealth of experience will be of great benefit to our clients.”

Marbrook has also worked at VTR and The Machine Room. His credits include The World at War and Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live in Budapest.

Cinelab London was established in 2013 following the acquisition of Bucks Media Services.
