IBC 2015: Cisco has announced new suite of software functions for the Cisco Virtualized Video Processing (V2P) platform called Virtual Digital Content Manager (vDCM).

The vDCM enables video operators and media companies to virtualise video processing operations for main screen, live TV.

At its stand at the RAI in Amsterdam, Cisco demoed how V2P and the vDCM might deliver improved interactive video with live, cloud DVR and on-demand video assets - targeted to main screen and consumer devices – all produced from a single V2P platform.

Cisco’s original Digital Content Manager was designed as a scalable platform, supporting encoding, transcoding, scrambling, transrating, muxing, and ad insertion.

vDCM can deliver cloud scalability through the adoption of virtualised video functions.
