CNN has unveiled further details of its on demand broadband video service.

CNN Pipeline, which follows the introduction of a free video on CNN.com in June, will offer subscribers access to live video streams, video archives and on-demand news clips from CNN operations around the world.

Expected to launch in the autumn the on-demand video section showcases the most popular content, and includes a 'browse video' tool and an hourly web-exclusive news update 'now in the news'.

Press conferences that would not warrant being broadcast in full on television will be available on the site.

CNN Pipeline subscribers can also sign up for personalised alerts that notify them of breaking news on the topics.

"You select whether you want to watch daily news clips for free on the site or any one of several live streams of news from CNN Pipeline," said Susan Grant, executive vice president of CNN News Services.
