Leicester-headquartered Cooke Optics will receive an Academy Award of Merit for its camera lenses.

The Academy said the glass manufacturer had “helped define the look of motion pictures over the last century.”

Cooke owner and chairman Les Zellan said: “I’m humbled to accept the award on behalf of all the talented people currently working at Cooke as well as the thousands that have gone before.”

Projects that have used Cooke lenses include Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey.
