Soho facility Smoke and Mirrors has signed-up a new senior Flame operator and visual effects supervisor.

Nico Cotta worked on the Barcadi ‘Sun' commercial that was nominated for a Visual Effects Society award earlier this year.

He joins Smoke and Mirrors from the Moving Picture Company where he worked for five years.

Cotta's other credits include:

  • A stop motion advert for Dougal Wilson and the Big Yellow Storage Company;

  • The Barcadi ad ‘Blend and Assimilate' (pictured), directed by Pleix;

  • And a pop promo for The Killers' single ‘Bones, directed by Tim Burton.

“We're really excited about Nico joining us,” said Smoke and Mirrors chief executive Penny Verbe. “He's a big level person who has worked with lots of talented people.”

France born Cotta started work at Smoke and Mirrors this week (Monday 7 April 2008).

Smoke and Mirrors does visual effects for feature films and TV programs, film and TV title sequences, music videos, TV commercials, international adaptation for global campaigns and brands, channel idents and rebrands, digital signage, mobile phone and new media content, games trailers and more.
