Alicia Silverstone is to reprise role as it-girl Cher Horowitz

Alicia Silverstone is to reprise her role as it-girl Cher Horowitz in a Paramount+ sequel to cult 90s film Clueless.
Produced by CBS Studios and billed as a “Clueless event series”, the show is set 30 years after the events of the original film, with Beverly Hills icon Horowitz believing she has life all figured out: she’s successful in business and has mastered motherhood. However, when her daughter hits high-school, Cher rapidly finds herself ‘clueless’ at being able to parent a teenager.
The series is written and exec produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The OC, Gossip Girl, Nancy Drew) via Fake Empire, and Jordan Weiss (Freakier Friday, Dollface). Silverstone will exec produce also, with Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original film, and original film producer Robert Lawrence, also serving as exec producers.
“Clueless is coming home,” said Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+.
“Thirty-one years ago, Alicia Silverstone’s Cher Horowitz captivated audiences with her signature chic style, sharp wit and relentless optimism, helping make Clueless a box office hit and instant pop culture classic.
“We’re especially proud to be filming this much-anticipated series in Los Angeles, honouring its starring role in the original film while investing in the city’s exceptional talent and crews.”
The series will premiere globally on Paramount+, with filming to start in LA in 2027.
