The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is among the organisations that have signed an open letter calling on the European Commission’s council of ministers to support net neutrality rules.

“Net neutrality is indispensable for innovation and growth, for the fundamental right to receive and impart information and for investment in next-generation broadband,” said the letter. Establishing net neutrality would prevent telecommunications companies from negotiating special deals with bandwidth-hungry content providers, such as online video streaming or on-demand service companies.
