London post house Editworks has regained the contract to post-produce BBC2 weeknight quiz show Eggheads after opting to open a facility in Glasgow.

The Charlotte Street firm lost the 12 Yard Productions show when it was relocated to Scotland last year as part of the BBC’s commitment to production in the nations and regions.

Now, having secured funding from a private investor to build a new operation at The Hub in Pacific Quay, the company has regained the Eggheads work and secured agreements to edit two other 12 Yard-produced shows: In
It To Win It and Who Dares Wins.

As part of the expansion, the company is also concluding negotiations with a new managing director to replace Graham Hutchings, who is to become vice-chairman of the company and oversee its development outside London.

Hutchings told Broadcast: “Our new purpose-built facility in Pacific Quay is a major commitment, and a response to demand for our light-entertainment skill base. We are really looking forward to developing strong relationships with local production companies and current clients, and providing employment and training to local talent.’

Editworks Scotland will open next month, offering six Avid editing suites, audio post, colour grading and 24-hour access.
