Elephant Egg, the animation studio jointly owned by UK based media company Elephant Productions and animation company Fictitious Egg, has been commissioned to animate a second series of its quick-turnaround satirical sketches for the BBC Choice show The State We're In, writes Will Strauss.

Designed by Elephant Egg director of animation Andy Wyatt, each sketch parodies a classic cartoon series such as Rhubarb & Custard, Mr Benn, Bodand South Parkwith a spin on the week's events. Each sketch, which runs for between one and a half and two minutes, is completed in a period of just four days. Sketches are animated by a team of four using a mixture of 2D Animo and Flash animation with all pre-production including scripting done by the BBC's in-house team.

The second series of sketches will run in February next year. Elephant Productions was founded in 1990 by actor and writer Nigel Planer and producer, director and children's author Jamie Rix.
