EVS has appointed Muriel De Lathouwer as managing director and chief executive.

De Lathouwer served as interim president of the executive committee on an interim basis following the departure of Joop Janssen in October.

She has been a member of the Board of Directors at the manufacturer of broadcast and media production systems since November 2013 and also chaired its Strategic Committee.

EVS chairman Pierre Rion said: “This appointment is the result of a recruitment process initiated in October last year, combined with the way Muriel rapidly federated the management team.

“During the interim, she demonstrated that, in addition to the strategic competences we already knew from her role in the Board of Directors, she has all the necessary managerial skills to bring EVS to new levels.”

De Lathouwer started her career as an IT consultant at Accenture, before spending seven years at McKinsey in Brussels where as associate principal she specialised in telecom, high tech and media.

Between 2008 and 2009, she was chief marketing officer of the mobile telecom operator Base, which is a subsidiary of Dutch telco KPN.

Prior to her initial role at EVS in 2014, she was managing director and co-founder of an engineering consultancy firm for the energy and environmental sectors.

She also studied as an engineer in nuclear physics at the Université libre de Bruxelles and holds an MBA from Insead in Paris.

De Lathouwer said: “Since joining the Board of Directors of EVS in November 2013, I’ve had the opportunity to appreciate the quality and unrivalled reliability of EVS solutions, as well as the company’s strong innovative drive.

“The past four months have reinforced my understanding of the very solid fundamentals of EVS: high professional skills, a strong culture, engagement of the entire staff to meet customer requirements, and above everything, the passion the employees have for what they do and strive to achieve every day.”
