Former Avid pro audio sales manager Ben Nemes is launching a business supplying specially modified ISO shipping containers that can be used as creative spaces.

SpaceCrate will provide production and post businesses, or individuals, with the chance to expand or relocate their facilities to accommodate seasonality and other fluctuations in demand on either a permanent or temporary basis.

Nemes is working on the new venture with AKA Design founder Guy Wilson and Mike Watson, owner of systems integrator Absolute Cad.

Each container will be converted for sound isolation and acoustic performance, equipped with air conditioning and lighting and wired for power and kit.

The ISO specification will be maintained so that the modified crate can be transported using standard shipping infrastructure.

Suggested uses include location editing, Foley and ADR, dubbing suites, dailies screenings or home recording studios.
