Facilis has launched SyncBlock, an archive and backup system for the firm’s TerraBlock shared storage platform.

Facilis said its new SyncBlock solutions will be available in single and library LTO5 drive models, as well as spinning disk models ranging from 8TB to 64TB.

“TerraBlock users now have direct access to an economical backup and archive solution through Facilis that enhances data protection,” said Facilis senior vice president and general manager Shane Rodbourn.

“Organisations can easily replicate critical data to less expensive near-line, disk-based storage media, and archive to long-term, tape-based media without the need to dedicate a client workstation.”

The shared storage provider has also unveiled updated software for TerraBlock.

Version 5.7 includes support for 4TB Drives and support for Mac OS X 10.8.2 and 10.7.5 as well as 16Gbps fibre channel.
