Former Prime Focus business development executive Will Garbutt has returned to Halo Post as head of production.

Garbutt, who briefly worked at Halo in between stints at Prime Focus, will work alongside director of operations Kate Robson.

The appointment follows managing director Jo Beighton’s departure from the Soho post facility in November.

Halo chief executive John Rogerson said: “The company has grown and it was proving difficult for one person to manage a facility of this size, so we decided to split the managing director role in two.”

Halo has also been awarded a contract by the BBC to post-produce 60 hours of factual content.

The deal is in addition to Halo’s existing contract to post-produce a similar number of hours for BBC in-house factual, which it services through its Portland Post operation.

To accommodate the extra work, Halo will set up a bespoke facility of around 20 suites, which is expected to be up and running by the end of April.

Garbutt added: “We have all been watching Halo with great interest over the last two years and have more recently seen them successfully deliver several heavyweight projects, particularly in film and drama, as well as gaining great strength in the factual and documentary sector.”
