GlobeCast is to broadcast stereo 3D coverage of the French Open Tennis in Paris live via satellite to Panasonic 3DTVs in participating retail stores across the UK and Ireland.

As part of a partnership between Panasonic and the French Tennis Federation the Grand Slam tournament will be available on VT20 full HD 3D TVs.

The signal will be uplinked by Eurosport from the Roland Garros stadium to the Astra 1M satellite before it is then downlinked by GlobeCast for delivery to stores via the Eurobird 1. 

Fabrice Estornel, the product manager for Panasonic’s TV group said: “We really feel that the spectacular live coverage displayed on our TV’s will spark the audience’s imagination and viewers will enjoy exquisitely beautiful images with an incredibly powerful 3D effect.”

The French Open takes place between 23 May and 6 June.
