Brief Create a rich, authentic and elegant look and feel for a new series of the 1950s detective drama.
How it was done Senior colourist Dan Coles, using Baselight, opted for a natural feel, accentuating the stronger, dominant colours in the frame and using a fairly high level of contrast throughout. Subtle changes to overall saturation levels were made depending on what suited the narrative. Vignettes, grads and subtle diffusion gave it a fi lmic look. For the audio, senior re-recording mixer Richard Straker added eerie winds and low undertones that contrasted with the light airy breezes and summer birds of the exterior shots order to refl ect the darker edge of the new series. The iZotope RX plug-in was used to clean up the tracks and enhance the quality of location recordings.
