Birmingham's HD Heaven has upgraded its Avid DS systems to version 10.1.1, allowing it to provide a full resolution end-to-end Avid-Red workflow.

Version 10.1.1 is an upgrade for the finishing system that provides native support for R3D files created by the Red One camera.

It allows direct ingest or instant linking to .r3d files plus the ability to apply ISO, black level, RLX colour intent data and more to the footage in Avid with preset sequences at 2k, 3k, and 4k resolutions.

Facilities with Media Composer or Symphony and DS, when coupled with Avid's automated format conversion tool Metafuze and the Avid Advanced Conform workflow, can take Red projects straight through from ingest to offline and onto online finishing at full resolution with no need for third party applications.

HD Heaven, a regular beta tester for Avid technology, has already upgraded to the new version and is one of the first UK post facilities to do so.

The company recently provided North One television with online and grading services for The Gadget Show (pictured) for Five. Other credits include effects work for 10 Years Younger for Channel 4.
