The first Sweet high-definition festival is due to debut at the end of August in Edinburgh to coincide with the Television Festival. The four-day event will promote and demystify HD and discuss its place in the future of television and cinema. As well as panel discussions there will be specialist screenings of films including Deep Blue and Dogville. Two festival competitions, Sweet HD Shorts and Sweet Success, have been devised to recognise the most promising screenplay and screening. Sweet HD runs from 26 to 30 August in Edinburgh.
