The IABM has given honorary memberships to chairman of the IBC Partnership Board Mike Martin and Harmonic executive Larry Kaplan.

The IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) said the award recognises their “exceptional personal contribution to the supply side of the broadcast media and technology industry, as well as their companies’ ongoing support of the IABM”.

“It’s a pleasure to be able to highlight and honour the tremendous accomplishments of industry colleagues such as Larry and Mike, and also to recognise their contributions to the IABM,” said Peter White (pictured, left), director general at the IABM.

Kaplan (pictured, right) co-founded Omneon in 1998, growing the company’s revenues to $330 million in ten years.

Prior to his work at Omneon, which was acquired by Harmonic in 2010, Kaplan held senior positions at Sony Broadcast and Tektronix.

Martin joined Vinten in the early 1970s as sales manager for the company’s broadcast business.

He served on the IABM board as Vinten’s representative during the 1980s, and following his retirement in 2001, became chairman of IBC’s Executive Management Committee.
