Ikegami showed off its new GFCam hybrid tapeless camera system at Broadcast Video Expo today (Tuesday 17 February).

GFCam is a product of its partnership with Toshiba and was unveiled at NAB last year.

The GFCam HDS-V10 camcorder is aimed at the news gathering and ENG market and records in HD but can down convert to SD for output if required. It uses an MPEG-2 4:2:2 codec to record HD images including 1920 x 1080.

Image and sound data are recorded to a removable medium called GFPAK which can be used with all system components. The central video management and recording system is based on flash memory.

The camcorder has a 2/3 inch CCD at 1080i and 720p and will cost approximately €20,000.

Ikegami is exhibiting on stand C44.
