Imagen is to provide a subsidised digitisation and on-boarding service to guard against the risk of content being lost because of degraded tapes.

The company also want to encourage content owners and production companies to adopt cloud-based services.

“There’s an inertia in adopting cloud based services – largely because content is locked away on tape or exists in the digital realm but is languishing underutilised, unloved and uncatalogued on drives and servers on premises. It is wasted content,” said Imagen vice president of marketing Ian Mottashead.

Users will be required to license a system from Imagen for at least a year.
