BBCW launches BBC First across Middle East

BBC Worldwide has launched its premium drama channel BBC First across the Middle East and North Africa. The channel will launch in the region in February after the company struck a pan-regional deal with pay-TV operator OSN. It will launch with series including Sherlock, Luther, Doctor Who, War and Peace and Doctor Foster. The channel is currently available in Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa and Saudi Arabia.

Amazon acquires The X-Files catalogue

Amazon has acquired all nine series of The X-Files ahead of the launch of the sci-fi reboot. The company will add the show’s entire catalogue of 200 episodes to its Amazon Prime Instant Video service in the UK. This comes ahead of the Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny-fronted reboot, which launches on US network Fox on January 24, closely followed by C5 in the UK.
