Zoe Brown hire rounds out Banijay indie’s new-look management team

Tiger Aspect Productions has hired UKTV’s business affairs boss Zoe Brown to become its chief commercial officer, supercharging the outfit’s international ambitions.

Brown will exit her role as director of legal and business affairs at BBC Studios-owned UKTV to complete the Banijay indie’s management team, confirming that former chief executive Damian Kavanagh will not be directly replaced.

The management team also comprises head of drama Lucy Bedford, head of comedy David Simpson and chief operating officer Helen Wright.

A Banijay UK spokeswoman also confirmed Tiger Aspect is recruiting a head of comedy entertainment production following the recent exit of Cat Fox.

Brown will oversee the Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father and Man Like Mobeen producer indie’s commercial performance, while working on growth plans for international, new practices and innovations.

She will also support several other smaller scripted labels within the Banijay UK fold, including Douglas Road, Shiny Button and Blacklight Television.

Joining Banijay UK this autumn, Brown will report to Banijay chief executive Lucinda Hicks. It is understood UKTV will begin recruiting for her replacement next week.

For the past four years, she has worked closely with the UKTV board to help develop content, set strategies and close third-party funding deals.

Before that, she worked in several roles at the BBC, most recently head of commercial, rights and business affairs for drama, films and acquisitions.

As Tiger Aspect’s work “becomes increasingly international and deals ever more complex”, Hicks said Brown’s experience will ensure “we are as commercially astute as we are creatively prolific”.

Brown described the post as “a fantastic opportunity to be part of Tiger’s new direction”.
