Anna Davies among hires to leads newly minted team as Welsh indie secures first streamer commission

Former Arrow Media exec Anna Davies will lead Yeti Television’s new global development team as the Welsh indie takes aim at the US market.

Davies is tasked with building a slate of history, true crime and other premium factual titles to take straight to US buyers and global streamers. Yeti has also added Daniel Gilbert and Eva Sinclair to its newly minted global unit as development assistant producer and trainee assistant producer.

The global team will work alongside Yeti’s existing development team, led by Sarah Stevenson, which will continue to focus on UK PSBs, digital platforms and brand-funded content.

Davies spent a decade in development roles at Arrow, latterly as exec producer of development before departing the company in August. Her development credits include Secrets of the Hells Angels (A&E), I, Sniper: The Washington Killers (Vice/Channel 4), America’s Hidden Stories: The Osage Murders (Smithsonian/Paramount+) and Late Night Lock Up (Investigation Discovery).

She is also an experienced executive producer, series producer and producer/director, with other production credits including Wife Swap, Shakespeare’s Tomb and Katie Price: Standing Up For Harvey, among others.

The installation of a global development team comes as Yeti reveals its first streamer project with Amazon Prime Video in a deal brokered by Sphere Abacus. The indie has nine further projects yet-to-be announced.

Surviving the Tunisia Beach Attack is a 90-minute film that is billed as the “definitive” account of the 2015 massacre, which saw 38 people gunned down by a lone gunman, making it the biggest loss of British life to terrorism since the 7/7 London Bombings.

Survivors offer their experience of the attack to pull together a moment-by-moment account of the mass shooting. Price exec produces the film, which is directed by Clare Sturges.

Yeti was awarded a significant grant from the BFI’s Global Screen Fund, which has bolstered its international ambitions.

Siân Price, Yeti’s creative director, said: “It’s a real coup for Yeti to have attracted someone of Anna’s calibre and talent on board. She brings not only a wealth of experience and relationships in the world of global streamers and US platforms, but also incredible ideas and leadership.

“As the UK market continues to shift and change, it’s a bold strategic decision for Yeti to target the US and streamers in earnest.”

Davies added: “The appetite for smart, distinctive factual content with global resonance is stronger than ever. I’m looking forward to helping shape the next chapter of Yeti’s international growth.”

Fellow Arrow alum Gilbert has also previously worked at Fulwell 73 and CTVC.

Sinclair joins the Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen indie having most recently served as associate development producer at Murder in the Car Park indie Indefinite Films. She joins Yeti under the Mission Accomplished AP Development Scheme.

Davies said: “Daniel and Eva are both bursting with ideas, energy and originality. I’m delighted to have them on the team as we embark on building an outstanding premium slate.”

Surviving the Tunisia Beach Attack will launch on Amazon Prime Video on 25 May
