UK broadcast technology firm Ionoco is looking to the US television market to expand the programmes it provides game control technology for.

Ionoco will provide the technology behind the US version of Million Pound Drop which TXs next week, with graphics, information feeds and game play controlled by the UK firm’s core computer system.

“The US is and will continue to be a significant part of our core business,” Simon Ingram, managing director of Ionoco, said. “There is more readiness among broadcasters in the US to fund pilots and developments.”

As well as generating the on-set and on-screen graphics and information feeds, the computer systems provide functionality for audio, sound effects and lighting cues synchronised with game play for Million Dollar Drop.

“We love to develop new technology and solutions for shows. That is a proposition in the US that has not been offered before, and it gives us the opportunity to do things a bit differently.”

Ingram said Ionoco will provide computer systems for three prime time shows TX in UK in 2011.
