Ionoco, the broadcast technology company that supports Fremantle Media's Million Dollar Password and Endemol's 20Q, is to open an office in Los Angeles.

Having added operations in France and Israel, the Winchester-based developer will open a US office in the new year as it looks to help production companies roll out major formats worldwide. The company is currently recruiting for someone to run the office.

Ionoco chief executive and co-founder Simon Ingram said: “Production companies are approaching us to develop tech-nologies to support new and -sometimes increasingly complex formats and it's a really exciting place to be.”

Ionoco has also added two staff to its UK office. Former Microsoft developer Will Arrowsmith joined last month while new finance manager Rachel Charlton will start in the new year.

The company develops technology applications that control - and provide graphics for - gameshows and phone-in competitions and allow broadcast-quality live content to be delivered over the internet using network cameras.
