ITV Studios names Tim Carter as UK unscripted MD

Tim Carter, the chief executive of ITV Studios labels MultiStory Media and Twofour, is to replace Angela Jain as the production giant’s UK managing director of unscripted.  

Jain was revealed as Disney+’s head of content for EMEA today (10 June) and ITVS has moved quickly to replace her, with Carter assuming responsibility for the ITVS unscripted business in the UK, which comprises 11 labels and its wider team.  

Carter will take on the overall P&L responsibility for the unscripted group and the managing directors of the labels reporting into him. He will sit on the ITVS UK management team and report directly to Julian Bellamy, its managing director.  

Prior to joining ITV Studios, Carter had served as chief executive of Warner Bros label Twenty Twenty, moving to ITVS in 2017 as managing director of MultiStory Media. He led on the rebrand of the company from Shiver before becoming chief exec of the label and sister label Twofour.  

Bellamy said: “Tim’s success during his tenure at MultiStory and Twofour speaks for itself. His wealth of experience and knowledge in the unscripted market made him the natural successor to Angela. I’ve no doubt that ITV Studios’ UK unscripted business will go from strength to strength under his leadership”  

The ITVS managing director also praised the outgoing Angela Jain. He said she had been “a fantastic leader in ITV Studios for eight years, with a remit that’s spanned some of the UK’s biggest and best factual and entertainment shows… Angela’s sure footed editorial judgement, creative eye and commitment has played a key role in the success of ITV Studios.”  

Carter said that ITV Studios’ non-scripted slate “reads like a roll-call of the nation’s favourite shows and the breadth and depth of creative and production talent across the group is staggering. I look forward to building on our reputation as the natural home for the brightest and best as we forge the entertainment of the future.” 

 ITV Studios’ unscripted output currently includes global format hits such as Love Island, The Chase, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Come Dine With Me as well as upcoming shows such as The Neighbourhood, Celebrity Sabotage and Sharks! Celebrity Infested Waters!  

Its unscripted labels include Potato, Rollercoaster Television, Boom, MultiStory Media, Twofour, The Garden, So Television, Lifted Entertainment, Plimsoll and Oxford Scientific Films.
