The mystery of missing millionairess and fraudster Melissa Caddick is the subject of an ITV doc from Naked.

Feature-length doc Life and Limb: The Missing Millionairess explores the outlandish life of Australian Caddick who went for a morning run in Sydney in November 2020 and never returned home.

While the disappearance of a successful businesswoman with a seemingly perfect life shocked the country, it later transpired that the financial advisor had cheated over 70 victims, including friends and family, out of AUD$23m (£13.1m).

Fremantle-owned Naked’s 90-minute film will examine the myriad theories about her disappearance, as well as telling the story of her victims. The true crime doc follows Naked’s Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile which also aired on ITV.

Fatima Salaria, managing director of Naked said: “At the heart of this missing persons case is a handful of victims and many, many missing millions. Potentially finding out what happened to Melissa and drawing attention to her case globally could bring an important chance for closure for so many of the people involved.”

The Missing Millionairess was commissioned by Jo Clinton-Davis, controller of factual, ITV. Fatima Salaria and Fiona Caldwell will exec produce for Naked. Fremantle will distribute the doc internationally.

Additionally, ITV has acquired Vanishing Act (working title), a drama based on the affair, from DCD Rights.

Hailing from Banijay label Screentime Australia, three-part Vanishing Act is a dramatic rendering of the story, which places the country’s nationwide intrigue in the case at the heart of the story, following the discovering of Caddick’s dismembered foot.

The drama stars Kate Atkinson (Wentworth, Jack Irish) and Colin Friels (Mystery Road, Total Control) among others.

Local broadcaster Nine Network commissioned the drama in association with Screen New South Wales.
